Faces of Bioprinting: Meet CELLINK’s Senior Mechanical Engineer, Bryan

Name:  Bryan Jones

Location: Buchanan, Virginia, USA

Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Hi Bryan! Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hello my name is Bryan and I am a father of 3 boys, 4 cats, 3 goats, 2 turtles, I forgot how many chickens, a bunch of fish, and a dog (somewhere around here).  Yes, they all live inside except for the chickens and goats.  It is very busy around here and I couldn’t do it without the help of my amazing wife!

What sparked your interest to work with 3D Bioprinting?

I’ve always believed it is more important to contribute something while we are here on this planet.  I think that being involved with bioprinting and the technology in general is the best way that I can contribute something positive.  This technology has huge potential not just for organ transplanting but cancer research and many other applications.

What do you hope to see happen with 3D Bioprinting during your lifetime?

I would like to see an actual organ transplantation occur grown from a patients’ own healthy cells.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I am a metal head! I love it (especially Swedish metal!!!)

What was your dream job as a child?

To be an astronaut. I suppose that would still be pretty awesome, but I’m good where I’m at!

If you could have one superpower what would it be?

Super strength! The Hulk was always my most favorite comic hero.
