In 2016 I started my lab and the challenging experience as PI. My research focus was on leukemic cell behaviour in their microenvironment. My aim was to recreate a 3D environment to study cell-cell interactions. I searched the internet whether it was possible to 3D-Bioprint the tissues of my interest. This search led me to finding CELLINK.
My first contact was by e-mail with the CEO/Co-Founder Erik Gatenholm at the beginning of 2016. My question to Erik was: “I work with leukemic cells. My aim would be to recreate a 3D environment made of different cell types, is it feasible?” Erik immediately answered: “Hello Christina, It is definitely possible!”
From this point everything started. While I was at a meeting in Stockholm in June 2016 I decided to visit CELLINK in Gothenburg to see the 3D printer in action and it was a great experience.
When I returned to Italy I decided to buy it, this was the first INKREDIBLE 3D Bioprinter in Italy.
After the summer the printer arrived and Erik and Hector come to visit our lab to help us in the setting up of the system.
At the beginning of the 2017, I wrote a project entirely focused on the use of the 3D Bioprinter and I got a one-year grant founded.
Currently, we are printing with very promising results and our collaboration with the entire CELLINK team is great and fruitful.
Happy printing to everyone
