UNC, NC State scientists work together to print human body tissues

A new advancement from biomedical engineers and researchers at North Carolina State University could one day help more patients avoid knee replacement surgery, WRAL in Raleigh reports.

By partnering with UNC, N.C. State scientists are creating new body tissues using a patient’s own cells.

The technology could help people like Melissa Millhorn, 49, who recently had arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus — the tough cartilage that cushions the joint.
